Insurance Collections Supervisor

BCA Financial Services Inc. is looking for an Insurance Collections Supervisor. The Insurance Collections Supervisor coordinates and monitors activities of the Extended Business Office Insurance team engaged in the collection of accounts consistent with the philosophy, policies, procedures, goals and budget of the company.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor productivity metrics on a continual basis throughout the work day ensuring performance levels are consistent with established benchmarks on a real time basis. 
  • Participate in the collection process, observing activity by working among staff; performing active and passive observation sessions and assisting staff in difficult communications with consumers, their attorneys, and other personal representatives.
  • Participate in the health insurance verification and collection process, observing activity by working among staff; performing active and passive observation sessions and assisting staff in difficult communications with health insurance companies, liability insurance companies, governmental insurance organizations and other payers.
  • Communicate with other departments and when necessary, with creditor clients, to identify trends and areas of concern.
  • Coach, mentor and motivate employees to success, aid in the coordination of coaching/mentoring efforts of support personnel to employees where necessary.
  • Participate in the design of work reports and queues, striving to find the most efficient methods to communicate with consumers and healthcare insurance companies and promote optimal reimbursement for creditor clients.
  • Monitor, evaluate and coach staff, draft and conduct performance reviews, provide on-going training for staff, enforce both the department and company policies and procedures and ensure that each staff member serves the company and its clients in a positive, professional and courteous manner.
  • Monitor department metrics and ensure employees strive to meet.
  • Discuss job performance with employees in order to identify causes and issues and to work on resolving problems.
  • Maintain a high level of morale among department personnel.
  • Establish and maintain a constancy of purpose, focusing on continuous improvement within the Supervisor’s area of influence, delivering the highest degree of quality service.
  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of, and comply with, the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Florida Commercial and Consumer Collection Practices Act (FCCCPA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other statutes, laws and regulations pertinent to the collection industry as well as industries served.  Ensure the same level of compliance among staff

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years collection experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years healthcare insurance reimbursement experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years with supervisory experience in a highly productive environment
  • Possess effective supervisory, interpersonal, leadership, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle
  • Intermediate or advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs with emphasis in MS Word and MS Excel
  • Strong working knowledge of business service functions such as coding, billing and insurance reimbursement processes, including appeals
  • Confident leadership capability with excellent problem solving skills, thriving in a fast paced, diverse, results-oriented environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to shifting demands and competing priorities.
  • Ability to train and coach team members on processes, procedures, compliance and product knowledge.
  • Ability to plan, organize and delegate work.
  • Ability to influence team members to achieve individual and team objective
